So, I usually don’t post original pieces on here but the CFDA awards provided SO many amazing moments, attention had to be shown!

Held at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom last night (June 6, 2016) the CFDA awards honored the likes of Marc Jacobs for Womenswear, Donna Karan receiving the Founder’s Award, Norma Kamali for the Lifetime Achievement Award and the amazing Queen Bey (Beyoncé) receiving the Icon Award.

One of my personal favorites, the illustrious Alessandro Michele, Creative Director of Gucci, was granted the ‘International Award’. The award was presented by the majestic Editor In Chief of Vogue, Anna Wintour; she made note of his uncanny resemblance to Jared Leto and his massive shoe collection amongst other congratulatory notations.

Beyoncé, who was presented her award by the iconic Diane von Furstenberg, was rocking her Givenchy custom-made suite and 9 Million Dollars worth of Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. She was accompanied by her husband, Jay-Z, and future fashionista, her daughter, Blue Ivy. When accepting her award Beyoncé paid accolade to her mother, grandmother, and uncle who instilled the love and respect for fashion at such a young age. She went on to pay tribute to the designers, and note the important, if not pivotal, role they play in the everyday lives of those they dress.

“I want to say thank you to every designer that works tirelessly to make people feel like they can write their own story. Y’all are fairy godmothers and magicians and sculptors and sometimes, even our therapists. I encourage you to not forget this power that you have, or take it lightly.”

Some of the nights break-out stars included Alexander Skarsgard in Tom Ford, Emily Ratajkowski in Jason Wu, Jourdan Dunn in Jonathan Simkhai, Jessica Chastain in Prabal Gurung (and winner Paul Andrew Shoes – Congrats!) and Coco Rocha in her new brand CO+CO!

The star-studded event paid tribute to the late, great David Bowie who, was not only a great musician and performer, was a pioneer in fashion and a friend to all.
