Greg Lauren, the nephew of Ralph Lauren, delivered his take on the contemporary cowgirl for his SS16 collection.
The show started off with a beautiful dance right in the middle of the catwalk by Lil’Mini Phoenix, immediately cultivating the framework for a unique presentation. The looks featured an array of colours: army green, cream, tan, white, black, denim in plentiful shades and sporadic pops of brights.
Lauren mixed everyday wear with high fashion pieces, such as effortless cargo-style trousers and the more daring “chaps” (black trousers with oval cut-outs down the thighs) . The patchwork and mixed material in the pieces was cleverly done. From the placement to the stitching Lauren was able to deliver a fresh spin on distressed designs. There was also much headwear envy. Cool cowboy style hats, hoods and bandana head ties gave the looks a Western touch.
