NYFW SS16 Rachel Zoe – Twenty6

Rachel Zoe, renowned stylist, showed off her dexterity in her SS16 presentation. Her whimsical bohemian designs had a touch of maturity that left us nostalgic for the runways of the late 70s and early 80s, from which she drew her inspiration.

The collection conveyed a  romantic feel, supplemented by baroque textures, distinct fabrics and accents of fringe, ruffles and lace. Soft whites, creams, golds and brown with pops of blues, yellows and corals , consumed her pieces in the most alluring way. Her attention to detail was exemplified by hand-embroidered and beaded designs. Pieces ranged from an iridescent off the shoulder dress to a fit and flare skirt with matching crop-top to her finale piece, a fully hand beaded dress. Hair and makeup stood true to the 70s feel: natural waves and a matte coral lip.

The entire aura of the show was typical Rachel Zoe style; DJ duo the Misshaps playing cool, laid back music while the models strutted on a U-shaped floor level runway, surrounded by faux grass and a sea of white. Tiny bottles of Evian with straws through the tops were handed out as the audience occupied this standing room only venue. The entire experience, from clothes to essence, was all authentic to Rachel Zoe as a brand and as a person. Her pieces brought you to date night with that boy you met at that trendy LES cafe; the looks were vintage with a hint of contemporary and eye catching but soft and relaxed as well. It was gypsy meets the modern girl.
