Light breezy fabrics, midi length hems and white mules monopolised the looks in Victoria Beckham’s SS16 collection. Evoking a vintage summer feel, Beckham incorporated picnic-blanket type patterns as well as sunsets, “urban” surfers and palm trees into her prints. The pieces featured a white or black backdrop with vivd corals, yellows and blues that positively had the images jumping off of the pieces. These images were occasionally fused together, creating a pop-art effect.
The fabrics ranged from bouncy with some structure to completely draped with the limited appearance of crushed satin. Beckham was quoted saying that this season was all about carefree attitude, depicting this by through the use of specific fabrics and the colour palette. However, her oversized half-moon bag and plunging necklines implemented a jovial aspect to the collection. Sleek centre parted hair with the occasional red lip created a simplistic, achievable tone.
The entire collection shrieked business woman on the go. Victoria Beckham created a line for the woman who is both impassive and efficient.
