nna Sui’s SS16 show established an island vibe for the audience; palm trees adorned the catwalk and music featuring slack-key guitar and ukulele’s set the tone. Sui’s assemblage of models was led by supermodel, Gigi Hadid, sporting a Hawaiian lei.
Being Anna Sui, there was a twist to this tropical collection. The tones were not your conventional brights but a rich pallet of indigo, navy and blacks. Deep red lips accompanied drastic contours and eyebrows along with effortless waves, projecting the impression of an avant-garde island girl.
Prints ranging from tattoo sleeves, pineapples and florals were splashed onto bomber jackets and dresses. sometimes including complementary jackets. Accompanying a few of the women in swimwear were their male counterparts, true visions of sartorial summer loving.
