International designer Bibhu Mohapatra’s SS16 line demonstrated his devotion to Indian fabrics and vibrant colours. The recipient of such awards as Best Evening Wear Designer during his stint at FIT, the Young Innovator Award from the National Arts Club and a member of the CFDA, Mohapatra has made a name for himself in the womenswear category.
The ethereal fabrics of the Mohapetra show were brimming from the entire line. Each look exemplified his rich colour palette, magnificent use of patterns and ability to showcase the exceptional nature of the textiles. Pulled back retro hair and the pop of blue eye makeup were a perfect compliment to the designs. Hanes and Mohapatra teamed up on this show, debuting Hanes’ newest line of hosiery.
Mohapatra was inspired by the Bauhaus Movement portraying a courageous, sanguine woman, placing emphasis on legs. A bold confidence was undeniably exuded from this line.
